Straightforward has been revamped in a second edition, with much of the content updated and made more relevant to our ever-changing world. New topics, articles and exercises appear within a fresh new design. All the old teachers’ favourites are still there – meaning it will still be a joy to teach with. Each unit is structured to provide one lesson per double-page spread (A/B/C/D), lasting around 90 minutes. All lessons are interlinked to promote better and more memorable learning, with the flexibility to pick out key sections to focus on certain language points. All language is clearly signposted and scaffolded so there is great clarity of progression of learning – students can really feel they are getting somewhere. There are extra communication pages and unit reviews, plus new videos, online material and photocopiables to extend and add to a lesson. The CEFR plays a prominent part in the second edition with clear signposting, self-assessment opportunities and the invaluable portfolio. The Teacher’s Book and supporting website have tips, photocopiables and information. This popular series is now available in a handy split edition, combining Student’s Book and Workbook units in a single shorter volume, which is ideal for short courses.

Straightforward is Macmillan’s back-to-basics, six-level general English course for adult and young adult learners. It has a clear structure and is designed to be easy for both the teacher and student to use.
Straightforward Student’s book – Provides motivating content in a format that is easy for both teachers and students to use.All lessons include a balance of language and skills work, and the different sections on the page are clearly labelled so that students know exactly what they are focusing on at each moment 12 topics per level, each containing skills work, contextualised grammar activities, vocabulary development exercises and functional language lessons.
Straightforward Workbook with Key – Contains practice material for each lesson in the Student’s Book, offering thorough consolidation of the language input. A complete writing course containing practical writing tasks for classroom or self-study. Extra reading texts and activities for every unit.
Straightforward – teacher’s book CD. Features a general English course based on observation of what good teachers do in the classroom. This teacher’s book CD contains teaching notes, methodology builders, photocopiable activities, editable tests, and an audio.
